Coin Tricks With Quarters

Have you ever seen the famous magician David Blaine take a bite out of a quarter, and then magically spit it right back out, good as new?

This trick can be done anywhere, to anyone, and with almost no supplies.  The secret to this trick lies in a fake quarter that can fold in half and snap back,  which combined with good sleight of hand, can fool anyone!

Step #1

Tell the audience what you are going to do in your trick, like “I am going to take a bite out of this quarter”.   While you are saying this, you should be getting the trick quarter out of your pocket, and palming it in your hand, keeping it hidden from the audience.

Step #2

Ask your audience member for a quarter, and have them and anyone else that wants to, inspect it.  Once they are ready to give the quarter to you, reach for it with your hand palming the trick quarter, and grab their coin with your fingers.

Step #3

Now it is time to use some kind of sleight of hand trick, such as stating “Did you know eating  quarters is good for your teeth?”.  This will distract them from what you are doing with your hands, which is putting their quarter in your pocket, and moving the quarter you were palming in to your fingertips. You can find other sleight of hand tricks that can be used on this page “3 Sleight of Hand Secrets”.

Step #4

Now that the trick quarter is in your fingers, you are ready to take a bite out of it.  Move it towards your mouth, with the folding flap facing you.  While the coin is on its way to your teeth, brush it against your bottom lip, thus making the folding part of the quarter fold, and then pinch it to the back of the coin.  Now pretend to take a bite and start chewing it, while you show the audience the front side of the coin so they can’t see the flap.

Step #5

Keep pretending to chew, and then suddenly make a spitting motion and noise, and at the same time, let go of the folded part of the coin that you were pinching.  The coin should look normal now, and your audience will be in shock!

Remember: Never reveal your secret coin to anyone, or they’ll call you out on your trick.
